Things I’ve Seen

Inspired by absurdist philosophy, my project depicts the absurd and destabilizes the intrinsic meaning of photographs as documents and objects of political import.I refer to these images as readymade scenes: found compositions that I do not necessarily seek, but rather discover like an accidental tourist. The main criteria is that the context must be simultaneously harmonious in form, puzzling in content and puzzling in its harmony. Despite the serendipitous nature of these discoveries, I actively frame the image to emphasize these attributes. Through such deliberate composing and sequencing, I create confusing and disjointed narratives that question and interfere with the impulse to locate and assign meaning to these things, places and situations.
